I've barely been on here since last night. Am I too late for love and antics?
OF COURSE YOU ARE NOT TO LATE but now of course I need to think of another hilarious story...
okay I can give you a cute story.
So when I first met Mr Defira and we started dating, of course when you're with someone new you talk about the things that interest you and what your hobbies are and what you love. At that time, one of my obsessively great passions was Lord of the Rings- I had just come back from a backpacking holiday around New Zealand a couple of months earlier, and was just bubbling with the need to talk about LOTR with people.
I bemoaned the fact that no one in either my family or my friends had ever bought me a LOTR themed gift, even though for the previous three years it had been all I talked about. Instead, I had watched with horror and confusion at Christmases and birthdays as my siblings got the DVDs and the books and I got... other things. My siblings certainly enjoyed LOTR, don't get me wrong, but none of them were obsessed. I think I'm the only one who read the books. I didn't understand why they got the presents I wanted.
Anyway, we'd been hanging out together for about a fortnight, probably less, when I started complaining about this in a conversation and he said "Well, I'll buy you something. Anything. What do you want?"
Which I thought was sweet, because we'd known each other less than a month and he was adamant he was going to buy me a gift. The next words out of his mouth were a little surprising though. "It's your birthday in three weeks? I'll buy you a sword for your birthday."
Admittedly, I was a little freaked by that, at the idea that a guy I barely knew wanted to fork out hundreds of dollars on a LOTR sword for me. I laughed nervously and said it wasn't necessary, but he insisted. I freaked a little more, and pointed out he'd really regret the purchase if we broke up any time soon, wondering forever why he'd bought a sword for a girl he'd only dated for a month or two.
He was not to be dissuaded. His answer was "Fine. I'll buy it for you for Christmas then. We will have been together long enough by then."
He did buy it for Christmas for me, and it was the first LOTR present anyone ever gave me. Four years later we used it to cut our wedding cake. Now it sits on a display rack on top of our piano.
(One, two, three) awwwwwwwwwwww.....
(And of course you may have love my dear, take as much as you need <33333)
