Can I ask what happened to Ava's Demon tho? I thought that webcomic was awesome. It's been a while since I've read it tho...
Ok so, there’s a much longer history that someone compiled but i’ll give the short version.
Essentially, some aces in the ava’s demon fandom got upset over some of michelle’s reactions to aces requesting asexual representation and some of the content in the comic that was acephobic.
Michelle widely blew this out of proportion and basically accused these people of harassment and death threats when none were actually sent- no evidence was ever provided of this. However the fans ate it up and made the ava’s demon fandom and incredibly unsafe place for anyone who was ace, harassing them and basically being acephobic fucks.
This of course led to aces calling this out, and the cycle was repeated over a couple of different events, until michelle left tumblr and pretty much blamed the aces who called her out (but again, never did any harassment) and said anyone who disagreed with her wasn’t sane.
And with that lovely bit of acephobia and ableism combined, the fans made the fandom EVEN WORSE, and it was incredibly bad for anyone who identified as ace and was in the fandom. It was the reason why I left.
