Best bits about a new drawing: designing the original idea, and designing the colour scheme. Today is the second one! I think colour became a focus of my artwork because I’m so into ‘feelings’ (hi) & I find expressing ‘feelings’ with colour pretty intuitive. I’ve been hardcore into flat black & white the last year, I’m still enjoying that & find it very powerful to be stripped stark naked with just the black to work in, but IDK maybe Beltane opened some colour to me again. Exciting? Whatever shit is going shit my art always shows me exactly what’s going on in places I can’t access, & when I’m making progress in em 💖💘🕷 Anywhoo this is how I choose a palette - scribbly colour roughs over an invisible sketch. I find if the piece can look good as a tonne of abstract blobby colour shapes the final drawing is gonna work out okay, know what I mean? I’ve always been into manic bright colours but I’m curious about (comparatively) more subtle palettes, so that’s what I’m exploring with the rightmost one...whaddya think? A, B or C? I wanna work with YELLOW soon too, I don’t I hardly ever do yellow! I remember a few years ago I’d never worked with purple, I hated it so much, & at the beginning of uni I think I’d only used a cool palette like, once in my entire life 😂Balance 💙 art is my teacher ❤️💛💜 . . . . . . #art #artist #workinprogress #wip #color #colour #colorrough #colorscheme #colourscheme #palette #palettes #illustration #rainbow #brightcolors #brightcolours #behindthescenes #making #makingart #digitalart #purple #blue #red #warmcolors #warmcolours #plants #nature #naturedrawing #natureaddict #pagan #forest #nofilter #weirdo #weirdgirl (at Houston, Texas)
