hi, hello! so i’ve been having this idea for a while: i wanted to show you my color system method
at first it maybe doesn’t make a lot of sense because i don’t color code in the normal way, but i use colors in my notes as a way to find information more easily (and also remember stuff). i’m going to attempt to explain it:
before i start: i keep all my notes for one subject together because they’re all connected somehow. and i number all my pages. for example, all the pictures here are from my maths notes’ notebook, where i currently have notes from my intro course and my notes from the first semester math class (am i making sense? i hope so lmao). so they’re two separate classes but i keep their notes together. got it? ok.
first thing i do is select one (1) color for each subject. for the first few general subjects it doesn’t matter what color i use but i try to organize all the colors i’m going to use before i start writing the notes in some sort of plan so i know beforehand all the different “core” subjects i have (here i did my outline for the intro course). in this picture you can see two different subjects in two different colors:
now that i have the core subjects in their respective colors, the fun begins: i connect the different subjects. how so? i use the colors, of course. i use the same colors for subjects with the same “core” (like, i use blue for coordinates in the plane so i also use blue for coordinates in the space) so when i go quickly through my notes i can easily know when i’m dealing with a subject “connected” to other.
why tf do i do this? if i’m having trouble with something in a subject, i can go back to where i did something similar and reread definitions (for example) so i can understand the new thing. i also save time not writing the same definitions all the time and still have super complete notes.
i really hope i’m making sense here lol
here, have some more examples... my syllabus had vectors and matrix together so i made notes combining them but made sure to differentiate the definitions and content for both of them (vectors in bluish, matrix in lilac):
then, similarly, if i mention something in a subject but explain it fully in another, i make sure of leaving a color mark so i future me can see that and think “oh so the explanation for that is in that other color” and go to the correct section to fully understand all my stuff.
and as you can see i also reference the number page where that correct section is so i don’t waste a lot of time flipping through the notes. because the number of colors i have is finite, you know, and sometimes i use the same colors for two unrelated subjects. i’m only human (or sometimes just bc i want to find quickly something specific in on section):
and that’s it?? i think? i hope i didn’t forget anything.
i know it may seem kinda messy and overcomplicated bUT maybe you’re like me and messy&overcomplicated works better for you too. you never know!
let me now if you decide to give it a try and/or find it useful!!
love,
martie.
ps: sorry for the pictures’ quality i was impatient and couldn’t wait for the clouds to go away lmao
pss: i posted this in spanish on my studygram!!
Feeling like a scientist again!
Currently trying a new imaging technique for me - Atomic Force Microscopy - and looking at some fancy membranes produced by cancer cells. The bright spot is a membrane vesicle about 80 nm = 0.00000008 cm wide. This cannot be visible under an optical microscope as the size of the vesicle is smaller then the narrowest beam of light you can physically get. So we have a teeny-tiny needle with which we go above the surface and scan it as a landscape. (How cool is that! I am so excited about it! Obviously...) And finally - Note my colour coded notes under the mouse... I am proud of them
(14/100) days of productivity 💁🏻♀️
click photo for hd: This is my lecture notes for fluid mechanics (part 1)!!
Fluids and hydraulics is my favorite course in the civil engineering program! 🥰 That's why I make sure I'll have the best lecture notes and formula bank for this subject 🤣🤣😬😬
The hand cramps are so real. It's actually affecting my ability to keep going 😞
Buuut that's another 2 hours I put into learning a language I'll need to know in less than a month. Once this chapter is done, I'll finally be able to move on to new material!

“that one girl in class who takes color coded notes https://t.co/ERDiYYNSog”
had to share this, I know ya'll studyblrs can relate! 🤣✊🏻💕
I thought I’d just post these two together since they go hand in hand!
Happy Counting!
First set of French notes! Put some pronunciation guidelines for ones I felt were particularly difficult.
