I wasn’t a Princess or even the Queen.

I just read about Ian sending Poppy cute little stories in his letters. He’s GOT to be using the stories as a code to communicate with her. In chapter one Poppy says this:

Then a few pages later Poppy is thinking about Descenters and the Stroud Sea is mentioned again.

What if the two are connected?

My interpretation of that story in his letter is that Poppy and Ian need to come together and head to the Stroud to befriend the coastal villagers and gain support. What if Ian is the one killing guards and speaking with the people of Pensdurth?
