Ash: I'm leaving now. Rhain is in charge. I've left notes for each of you with instructions.
Sera: Mine just says "Sera no".
Ash: And you can apply that to any situation.
Casteel: "So..."
Casteel: "Did you ever win when in an argument with your wife?"
Nyktos: "My wife and I never argue"
Casteel: š
Nyktos: "She tells me to shut up and I do"
Finally getting to read āThe Primal of Blood and Boneā and find myself giggling gleefully on every page. I forgot how fucking hilarious these characters are in dire situations

Just a simple piece of Sera and Nyktos
Inspired by A Shadow in the Ember by Jennifer L Armentrout
Attes is such a green flag
I canāt stop thinking about how painful and conflicting it mustāve been for Ash to meet Poppy when she first came to him, and to see the prophecy coming to fruition.
To look into the face of his granddaughter, unable to separate the love he undoubtedly has for her and the devastation of knowing that the precautions he and Sera took were still not enough. To see Poppyās defiance, strength, bravery, and cunningāso much like her grandmotherāwhile also seeing the looming demise of the realms, if the prophecy is to be believed. To know how deeply he and Sera love Poppy, despite the implications of her birth and ascension.
To feel Poppyās attempt at using the gift she inherited from him while knowing that he couldnāt explain the ability, and watch it bloom, as she grew up (just as Mycella wasnāt able to do for Ash). To remember the promise he and Sera made to each other after they learned she was pregnant with the twinsāhaving both parents alive and well to raise them, the experience they were robbed of themselvesāand knowing they couldnāt make or keep a similar promise to Poppy.
There are points during Born of Blood and Ash where your heart just breaks knowing the fate of Ires, Malec, Poppy/Sotoria, and Millicent. Ash and Seraās hope and joy for the future is so very heartbreaking knowing what happens to their children and grandchildren.
I just hope we get to the healing in the next book (after Kolis is removed from existence of course).
