Hybrid Personalities are a GOOOO
So long as you mostly stick to one or two types of answers, your personality will impact flavor text and change how people respond to you. It won’t impact the plot if your personality stats are all over the place, but Button will end up being, well, bland. Still figuring out the exact numeric values, but here’s a peak at the current code (and the different personality flavor text).
“Because ${ahe}'s a sadist who's determined that we lose,” Sally growls.
*if morbidity > 70
“As if my life isn't torment enough,” you say.
*elseif confidence > 70
“$!{Ahe}'ll be disappointed,” you say, “because we’re going to win.”
*elseif humor > 70
“Ooh, kinky,” you say.
*elseif ((humor > 30) and (confidence > 30))
“It breaks my heart to disappoint,” you say, “but I intend to win.”
*elseif ((confidence > 30) and (morbidity > 30))
“The only thing I've ever lost is my soul,” you say.
*elseif ((humor > 30) and (morbidity > 30))
“Sadism is so last year,” you say. “All the best villains feel emotionally conflicted over being evil.”
*else
“Sure seems that way,” you say.
Were you new to coding using choicescript when you started working on Mind Blind? :D
I’d done some coding before but not with choicescript. People on the COG forum have been wonderfully helpful in regards to correcting my many misunderstandings. I’ve been learning as I go, which definitely has it drawbacks.
It also has benefits, though, because I always think about what I want to do before I research whether or not it’s possible: stats going over 100%, alternatives to stat-checks, using pictures for profile sheets, personality-dependent flavor text, etc. There’s only been a few things that I’ve wanted to have happen that wasn’t possible (such as forcing the background to change color for a few screens).
Not sure if you know but there's a tool called CSIDE which basically consolidates scenes and play testing in one application. (There's a thread about it in the COG forum) I've recently tried my hand at interactive fiction and found the tool super helpful and more intuitive than the original choicescript app! Just thought to share this with you!
Thanks! I use CSIDE for randomtest, since my version of choicescript won’t do it and I’m terrified about downloading the update because it took me an embarrassingly long time to get the nodes(?) and whatnot to work on my computer in the first place.
Some healed -n- hairy tattoos on Martin! I've done a lot of really fun stuff on him over the last 9 or 10 years.... ♐ ♐ ♐ ♐ ♐ #sagittarius #zodiac #zodiactattoo #codingstuff #cattoo #musictattoo #torontotattoo #torontotattoostuff #torontostuff #tattoo #toronto #seatonvillagetoronto #koreatowntoronto #ktownto #torontotattoostudio #TattoosThisWay #AlieK (at Tattoos This Way) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1bhenvFVr6/?igshid=mi6c8wxxj39h
