Simovia Court, the Queen’s quarters, end of January
Genevie: It’s good to see you Alma, and the girls, of course. I feel like we didn’t really get to chat at your party.
Alma: I know, and the girls, especially Liefje, have been missing you.
Genevie: It was quite the scare with the Winter Solstice. I don’t think I’ve seen Father that upset since the Great War. You know how much he dotes on Liefje too.
Alma: I know.
Genevie: The anti-monarchy movement doesn’t look like they are playing around. What is being done about it? Also, perhaps you should consider learning some self-defense... you can’t have that redheaded Landgraaf of yours around all the time.
Alma: Oh Erasmus? He’s not mine...
Genevie: No? You did drag him to Windasia... and everywhere else with you. A royal romance. Surely you have seen the papers? Even the ones in Edenbrück are posting the story.
Alma: (blushing) You’re one to lecture me about redheaded nobles... tell me, how is Carter?
Genevie: He is good, we’re good. But we’re taking it slow. I need to make sure that any potential husband of mine is up to the task. Also you know how Father is.
Alma: A struggle I know all too well.
Genevie: (raising an eyebrow) You’re thinking of marriage? Alma, you’ve been with the man for all of three weeks!
Alma: Oh no! It’s too soon. Gosh, far too soon.
Genevie: You had me worried there for a moment...
Alma: No no, I only meant that I know the formalities that go with the whole thing. Seeking permissions and all that...
Genevie: Well, it’s not quite that complicated in Edenbrück but yes, a lot of scrutiny. And then there’s Father of course...
Beatrix: Mama! Bria is stoopid.
Alma: I’m sorry... Bria! Stop whatever it is that you’re doing! (turns her attention back to Genevie) I should call for their nanny...

Jonkheer Carter Werner’s apartment in downtown Zonneminster, around 9pm, late February.
(for best effect, I recommend having some jazz background music playing while you read this and the following post... this one works nicely.)
Nandu: ... I know, I was very shocked by the nomination!
Carter: I don’t believe that for a second, Nan. It’s impossible to get tickets to your show. Sold out for a full year! Have you seen what people are offering for last minute tickets?
Nandu: Hahah, still, this is way beyond anything I ever expected... the management is saying I should consider hiring a security team. I can’t go anywhere without the damn paparazzi showing up!
Jade: Welcome to my life.
Nandu: And does it get easier, Your Royal Highness?
Jade: No, not really... but you learn to live with it.
Carter: Indeed... the struggle is real, though it is easier in other places... take Edenbrück as an example, there Genevie and I can go pretty much anywhere in public without getting bothered and she’s the Crown Princess.
---
Genevie: Oh Andrew... I’m so, so sorry. I knew she still wasn’t doing great but this... Goodness. Is there anything I can do?
Andrew: Thanks, Fief, it has been... tough. To say the least. Grandfather hasn’t really been helping the situation and I think I fumbled that press conference.
Genevie: Well, you know I’m always here for you. How are the girls?
Andrew: Honestly? I don’t think they’ve even noticed that Alma’s not there.
Andrew: I’m sorry, it’s just such a mess.
Genevie: She’s getting help now though.
Andrew: I know... I just can’t help thinking that this could have been prevented.
Genevie: You did your best. This is not on you Andrew. You can’t blame yourself.
Andrew: I... Thank you Fiefje. We should get back to the others.
---
Zander: No but it is the entire system that is backwards!
Lawson: Why Zander, you sound quite the revolutionary. Have you been talking to my sister? Vanessa here knows that Isla simply won’t shut up about all the things that are wrong with the system, as you put it.
Zander: Isla is not wrong, though I don’t quite agree with some of her ideas. But take the titles and passing them on. Not only did Joris not get a title when we married, but my titles will go to my brother or his children, because of this ridiculous obsession with bloodlines. It’s not fair!
Joris: Darling, you know I don’t need a title.
Zander: If Lawson’s wife here got one, so should you. And so should our children. It’s only right that --
Lawson: I do apologise Miss Wenthworth, I’m afraid we’re boring you with all these politics.
Zander: I shall take that as my cue to mingle further. Joris, dear, I’ll be right back, but I have something to discuss with the Prince...
Jonkheer Carter Werner’s apartment, downtown Zonneminster, moments later
(for best effect, I recommend having some jazz background music playing while you read this… this one works nicely.)
Zander: I am sorry to cut in, Your Royal Highnesses.
Andrew: Please, Landgraaf, we are at a party. No need to apologise.
Zander: Thank you, Sir. I hope you are enjoying your evening.
Andrew: I am, thank you...
Zander: I also wanted to congratulate you on your new position. The Queen’s deputy! Personally I think it was long overdue that they give you a more prominent role. You are the only senior member of the royal family, after all.
Andrew: Why, thank you. But I hear congratulations are in order for you as well, Landgraaf.
Zander: Oh, yes! Our adoption papers were finally approved.
Andrew: You and your husband must be thrilled!
Zander: We are... thank you. I do beg your pardon, Sir, but I was hoping that we might talk in private.
Genevie: ...No but see that’s where you’re wrong, Lawson. This entire war is pointless and Simovia is doing the right thing staying out of it.
Lawson: You would say that, Edenbrück remained neutral in the previous war as well.
Genevie: And again, that was the right thing to do. Look, this war was started because of, what, a madly jealous princess pining over a disgraced former prince? Hardly a conflict that should be settled by blowing up civilian ships on international waters.
Carter: She does make a very good point, Lawson.
Lawson: But we can’t let such atrocities go unpunished --
Jade: Andrew better get back here soon...
---
Andrew: ...you're right, Landgraaf. I suppose I never really saw it that way. Al.. The Queen is far better trained in these matters than I am.
Zander: Well, I am more than happy to advise Your Royal Highness on any of the topics we’ve discussed. I may not sit in the House of Lords or the parliament...
Andrew: No, but you do have your ear on the ground. And your husband is a commoner...
Zander: He is... and my children will be too...
Andrew: I do have to say that I don’t agree with the rules. But it’s up to the House of Lords and the parliament to make changes.
Zander: Yes... if things stay this way.
Andrew: How do you mean?
Zander: Well, Sir, isn’t it so that the Queen may present bills to... ah, shake up the system?
Andrew: It is but... I doubt my sister would ever do that. Besides, would it not be extremely unwise?
Zander: If you listen to the House of Lords, naturally. They don’t want to give up their powers, not even a smidge.
Andrew: Well, Landgraaf, thank you for the fascinating discussion. I would love to continue it later, perhaps at the palace, next week?
Zander: Certainly, Sir.
Andrew: Excellent... now I must get back to the party.
Royal palace releases christening portrait and the crown princess’ name
The royal palace’s press office has released a portrait from the crown princess’ christening, which was held privately at the palace kept due to the security risks associated with the war that is raging across the Simtinent.
That is not to say that the christening was a mere family affair. The palace has not confirmed publicly who the royal baby’s godparents are but our strong guess is that HM Queen Alice of Véllia, HRH Princess Jade of Fairlake and possibly HRH Crown Princess Genevie of Edenbrück are among them, as well as HRM Queen Alma’s close friend, Jonkvrouw Isla De Thier.
As for the name? The palace released the following statement:
“It is our pleasure to introduce to the world, HRH Crown Princess Beatrix Zoe Madeliefje of Simovia.”
Beatrix is a traditional name among the Simovian nobility, well suited for a future queen. Zoe is without a doubt after the late Queen Zoe, and Madeliefje is the old Simovian (Dutch) word for the daisy flower. A beautiful name for our crown princess.
Genevie: Are you ready to order?
Carter: I think so... probably going for the chicken... how about you?
Genevie: Hmmm... I can't decide between the steak and the fish. Both sound absolutely delicious.
Carter: You know, I'll order the steak, you order the fish and then you can have a bite or two of mine.
Genevie: I thought you wanted the chicken?
Carter: Oh no, I don't mind.
Genevie: Well, if you insist... though I won't have you feeding me, the press would have a field day.
Carter: Ha, indeed! Certainly after we were spotted at the gym!
Genevie: Yes... we have been making the headlines.
Carter: We could have chosen a more private place for dinner, if you wanted. We can take this at your pace.
Genevie: No it's not that, I don't mind being seen with you.
Carter: I gathered as much, after the state visit. But then again, I am a very good catch, if you can believe what they write in the papers.
Genevie: Hah! You're the one trying to bag a crown princess...
Carter: And am I? Bagging her?
Genevie: Hmmm... I suppose we will have to wait and see.
Genevie: But, in all seriousness, I don't mind not having to hide. I've done that in the past. So, a toast. To not hiding.
Carter: I will drink to that.
Carter: And as for hiding, I hope you know that you don't ever have to hide anything from me. I know we haven't known each other for very long but I want you to know that I lo... well, that I'm very fond of you no matter what. Nothing can change that.
Carter: Ah, I'm sorry if it was too soon.
Genevie: No, not at all... I really appreciate it...
Carter: You do?
Genevie: Yes.. and in fact... how about we get out of here? Go somewhere... more private?

HM King Herrick of Edenbrück addresses the recent developments
His Majesty King Herrick of Edenbrück has broken his silence and appeared in front of the TV cameras from the palace to address his nation.
“Citizens of Edenbrück,
These are hard times we live in. Three monarchs dead in just a couple of days. Our neighbours joining the war.
I am here to offer our condolences to the nations of Monaca, Fandolin and Melide. Our thoughts are with the families.
I will also extend our sympathies to our neighbours in Simovia. We condemn Burgundy’s actions and we can understand why Queen Alma feels this is the only path left. However, Edenbrück will remain neutral.
We will continue to work towards a peaceful, diplomatic solution, while extending humanitarian aid to those affected by this dreadful war.”
The address was followed by a minute of silence for the fallen monarchs. The King did not take questions afterwards.
SPOTTED: Crown Princess Genevie of Edenbrück at a gym with a date
Her Royal Highness likes to stay fit, as she appeared earlier today at an upscale private health club in the harbour district of Edenbrück. The princess looked stylish in whites and greys while on the treadmill, but what really caught everyone’s eye, was that the princess was not alone.
One of our readers snapped a quick picture of the princess with her beau, deep in conversation. And who is the handsome red-head in the photo? Well, we did some digging and the gentleman in question is no other than the esteemed Lord Carter Werner, the heir of a Simovian noble family.
Beyond his noble birth, Lord Carter is an accomplished Simolympic swimmer, and he is on the board for several charities. And if that wasn’t enough, he is also a veteran of the Great Sim War, an Honours graduate from the prestigious Simovian Oxstorm university and he has placed in the top 5 of most handsome and eligible bachelors by the SimPeople magazine FIVE times. His family’s net worth is estimated to be at 127 million simoleons, making Lord Carter quite the catch.
It also appears that this is not the first time that the crown princess has been spotted with Lord Carter. Princess Genevie has been spending a lot of time in Simovia recently, and she attended several official engagements with Lord Carter in tow. This raises the question, will Edenbrück one day have a Simovian prince-consort? Will we soon have a royal wedding here? We can’t wait to find out!
