Codex Space Marines: Part 1
I won’t bore people with the details I have already given in my Index: Imperium 1 review. I will start with the new stuff. New Units:
Primaris Chaplin Pretty much the Primaris version of a regular Chaplin. Has an additional wound and a really cool looking model.
Lieutenants The other way around for once, this is the regular Marine version of the Primaris Lieutenant. Cheaper points and one less wound.
Primaris Apothecary Once again the Primaris version of the Apothecary.
Reiver Squad After seeing them briefly with the First Strike set, the Reivers have been given some new toys. The Bolt Carbine is an Assault 2 Boltgun. They have been given Grapnel Launchers, which allow the unit to ignore vertical distances when moving. This can be very powerful in a city scape board. The Grapnel Launcher also allows them to start off the board and then move on 6” from a table edge (still more than 9” away from enemy models). Alternatively they can enter the battlefield using Grav-chutes, which allows them to enter the battlefield anywhere out of 9” from enemy models.
Aggressor Squad Smaller Centurions that are designed to wipe away infantry blobs. Each of their fists act as a power fist, but they can choose which ranged weapons they equip to their hands. They may choose Auto Boltstorm; Assault 6 18” bolt weapons, OR Flamestorm; Assault 2D6 Flamers. They also come with small grenade launchers, 18” S4 AP0 Assault D6. The rise of swarm armies in 8th edition better take caution around these guys.
Redemptor Dreadnought Let me start by saying that I don’t really lie the design for this dreadnought. I will however say that using this as a gun platform is a great choice for many Space Marine players. I won’t detail all the weapons, but its basic load out is: Heavy Onsluaght Gatling Cannon, Heavy Flamer, Icarus Rocket Pod, 2 Fragstorm Grenade Launchers and a Redemptor Fist. So this thing can deal out a tonne of punishment to hordes, vehicles, elites, almost anything!
Repulsor Excuse the pun, but once again I think this thing is repulsive… Once again though the fire power this thing can deal is pretty incredible and finally has some transport option for the Primaris. FAR too many guns on this thing, with more options to chop and change the different guns around. Its repulsor field forces enemies to -2 from their charge against it, which is helpful.
Back soon with Part 2.
