Figured I should revisit this, since the last time I posted this A Monster’s Kindness hadn’t come out yet.
The first novel I ever had published - set so near in the future that some of the things in it have already happens (though I didn’t predict Brexit). Will lives alone and is putting himself through sixth form while hiding from a mysterious government organisation. Sophie lives in a government base, never speaking, spending all her time colouring patterns on graph paper. Both of them have secrets and pasts tied into a group known as the Hive. When Will is identified, his secrets are about to come out, and could threaten the lives of more than just him.
Jenny Harding gets her first real job working in security for Grey’s Tower, investigating thefts of their technology. But the more she learns about the thefts, the stranger it gets, and it soon turns out that alien technology is involved. As well as trying to figure out what’s really going on, Jenny has to figure out if she’s even on the right side.
Books in this series: Omega Rising, Traitor in the Tower, and Hidden in the Signal.
Shadows of Tomorrow series
Parallel worlds, time travel, and creatures breaking through from other worlds. Gareth is the leader of the Defenders. An accident left him with the ability to remember his future, which gives him an edge in the fight against the Outsiders, creatures who come through portals hoping only to devour whatever they can. But when a portal opens that Gareth didn’t predict, he has to discover the truth behind the Outsider attacks if he’s to stop them once and for all.
Books in this series: Shadows of Tomorrow, and Between Yesterdays. The third book in this trilogy, Echoes of Never, is currently with the publisher.
Shadows of Tomorrow is also available as an audiobook from Audible.
The Adventures of Technicality Man
By far the silliest thing I’ve ever written. When Technicality Man accidentally saves the world, he decides to use the respect that gives him to form his own team of super-entities. Together with Continuity Leopard, Chesty Cough Girl, Traditional Blutac Gatherer, Origami Man, and Bemused Girl, he must figure out who is trying to take control of their stories.
The story of the fight for civil rights for werewolves. When Crystal’s sort-of-step-brother gets bitten by a werewolf, she tries to find out what happened to him and ends up purchasing Thomas, a rebellious werewolf slave. They have to learn to trust each other in order to fight against the system that keeps all werewolves abused and enslaved. With a black, bisexual protagonist, this story draws a lot of connections to real world prejudices and gets dark in places, including dealing with the aftermath of sexual abuse.
When something starts howling in the woods, a village elder decides to bring back an old tradition of sacrificing someone to the monsters. He picks Parton, in revenge for Parton once sharing a kiss with his son. Out in the woods, Parton finds more kindness from the supposed monster than his neighbours. A short, gay romance with a hint of fairytale.
