1. Phil is like Death’s right hand. He also leads and elite squad to carry out certain tasks that he isn’t able to do alone. Etoiles was apart of said squad as well as Missa who is a reaper.

2. Etoiles would talk to Phil about some of the missions the squad carried out with a crystal clear memory, making Phil reminisce in the process, simply glad their team work was never forgotten.

3. The squad was specially picked by Phil, so they all ended up admiring Phil more than Lady Death. They also spent a lot of more time together

4. The group uses crows as a form of communication while on missions so Etoiles is very fond of crows and gets along well with them.

5. The team was never necessarily disbanded, but with Phil’s absence, they all left after to follow him instead. This surprised Death, but untimely found it funny yet precious how that small group would rather follow their leader instead of his superior.

Personally I see Etoiles as more of a lone wolf than working with a group, Missa I can absolutely see as working in a group though!

Etoiles imo, doesn't essentially work for Phil/Angel of Death, more like worships. Like you would worship say a greek or norse god. Offering up like offerings for their blessing.

Etoiles will give offerings to crows hoping they take it back to the Angel of Death to bless his fights and bless his training.

He takes his worship of the Angel of Death very seriously to the point he will not start a fight without sending a short good luck prayer to his angel, even if the fight has already begun he will hold his own to send the message.

Philza at first doesn't notice he does this until he joins in with watching one of the code fights and sees how Etoiles will get on his knees to talk to one of the crows around the arena - specifically Lady Death's crows as they're drawn to areas where they know death will soon follow - and how he talks quietly to them before offering them like a bone or a shard. Something that signifies he's going into a fight soon and wants his angel to watch his back. That's when Phil realises he doesn't worship Lady Death but him
