This morning I opened the code I had to work on and was faced with a class consisting of nothing but service call after service call.
No null checks, no empty validations, no constants or formatting, just call, after call, after call to REST services, completely uncaring of the consequences, of the errors, the exceptions, the null pointers.
It has been 6 hours and I am halfway through fixing this mess, I swear I have never seen a more horrible code in my life, not even back in college.
Me: Hey so did you test the service before merging the branch?
Coworker: Yes I did
Me: And it was working?
Coworker: Sure! If you need any help you can ask me!
Me: Alright... so tell me how the heck did you manage to send a Json to a GET request when there is absolutely no software out there that allows you to add a body to a GET you asshole???!!
Anyway this is why you test your code before doing any deliver. Who the fuck adds a @consumes to a GET??? In what universe is he living that it is possible??????
Coworker: Hey can you help me with some questions about RESTful services for interviews? Just 10 or so should be enough
Me: Sure, no problem!
