Friday Ginreview - Amuerte Coca Leaf Gin Nose: Soft and exotic Palate: Taste is supersoft, in background you get some gentle notes of spiciness. Taste is fruity and some sweetness is noticeable. This gin suits very nicely to enjoy it plain and dream exotic thoughts 🌞🍸 I liked Amuerte gin special and exotic taste and it suits in many cocktails, I have posted some and will create some more. Tonight I will test Amuerte with tonic water.. Amuerte is the only gin in the world with coca leaves 🌿 which makes it really unique! The coca leaves are handpicked in Peru. The gin itself is produced and bottled by a 112 year old Belgian distillery. The coca leaves have a bitter flavour, but blend perfectly with the South-American fruit we combined it with. Like tamarillo, papaya, some pepper and orange and last but not least, South-American dragon fruit. So it has a sweet and fruity after taste. Amuerte Gin is product of Belgian couple Eveline and Jeroen. They travelled for a year around the world. They spent some months in Colombia where they backpacked in the jungle. Here they came in contact with some indigeonus tribes and learned more about their history with the coca plant. So that’s where they came up with the idea of making this gin. Jeroen and his cousin Jeffrey, who is fourth generation of a 112 year old distillery wanted to make a gin for a long time. This ingredient was perfect. Story of distillery behind Amuerte Coca Leaf Gin: The distillery family is called Massy. They started making "jenever" (predecessor of gin) and lemonade in 1905. They combined the two later with "fruitjenever" which is sweet and fruity and lower in alcohol. Since 3th generation they started making a lot spirits and liquors private label. At this moment they are making Gin for more then 40 brands in Belgium and Holland. Amuerte Gin is 43% strong The bottle itself is finished with real 24K gold leaf #amuerte #cocaleafgin #fridayginreview #gin #gincollection #ginblogger #gintonic @cocagin (at Lohja)
