Summertime and the Living's Convenient
Today I visited the Black Goose Cafe in Tiverton, Rhode Island. It is just across the street from Nanaquaket pond, which is a summer hot spot for local boaters, fishermen, and thrill seekers.
I realized, this little spot is amazing for on the water relaxation! Their adorable patio seats about 15-20 people, and is open for business year round. This place has a full liquor license, and they encourage you to try their frozen drinks!! On a hot summer day, I can't think of a better way to enjoy relaxing on the patio with my closest girlfriends and sipping my favorite alcoholic beverage, right in my hometown!

On the pond across the street, you're welcome to boat, jetski, wake board, you name it! Not only can you work up an appetite, you can also satisfy your seafood craving at Evelyns Drive In (or swim in)! There is a private dock to pull up a jetski, boat, or even paddleboard or kayak, and enjoy the area's finest fresh sea-food while dining on the water. If you're looking to cool off and get out of the sun, step inside their air conditioned dining room; Either way, it's excellent! Why don't you keep that buzz going too! Considering they have a liquor license, feel free to enjoy any spirited refreshment you please, as long as you're of age.
When your appetite succeeds you and your sweet tooth begins to tingle, walk or bike to Helger's Ice Cream just down the road. They have both delicious soft serve, and hard ice cream, with many unique flavors throughout the season. Good luck avoiding running into someone you know because this spot is happening.
As for the rest of you, the one's who enjoy being on the water, and not dealing with the general public; You can work up that appetite all day, and head up to the local clam shack located across the street from the Black Goose Cafe. I have been buying all my seafood from this place for years, never once disappointed. The seafood is always fresh and delicious. I love to come home from a day on the water, and cook up fresh lobster and steamers for my friends, and I know just where to get them. It is beyond convenient.
Sometimes after a long day in the sun, I get extra sleepy. That's when I head over to Coastal Roasters, by walking, bike, or car, for a fresh brew of iced coffee or frozen latte, depending on my mood. Their beans are so fresh and delicious, I almost never want to buy coffee anywhere else. I often see people who travel from over the bridge to get their coffee here. It's that good. Once in a while, I'll pick up a fresh baked scone to tide me over until that clambake. Coastal Roasters has strategically placed chairs and tables facing the water, so you can see the boats go by as you rest your feet for the next leg of your adventure. This is just one extra stop to make the most of your experience by the water in Tiverton.
With this natural resource of fun, surrounded by fabulous food and friends, I find it very difficult to get bored. Many locals drive through this spot everyday, and don't see the beauty and potential Nanaquaket has to offer. The Town of Tiverton has a bad reputation of being boring, and providing nothing to do. I plan on changing that, and enjoying all it has to offer in the meantime.
