How can you tell the boy and girl coalbirds apart? Do they have a special way of attracting mates?
i’ve not given much thought to that. so it’s time to add on more!
Females have an extra layer of feathers on their bum feathers (good for incubation).
During mating season, the males will shed their coats for a bright red one. The redder (read: hotter) the bird, the more likely he’ll get chosen by a mate!
