Another area Clair Obscur scored gold in is pathetic men.
Gustave is only one moment away from ending it all 90% of the time, and in the remaining 10% he's actively trying to do it. He would say "If anything happens to Malle, I'm going to kill everyone in this room, and then myself" completely unironically and mean every word of it. He isn't only the oldest man in Luimere, but also absolutely the poor little meow meow-est.
Verso's aloof lone wolf TM persona does not survive five minutes of being in the team's general proximity. He folds like a particularly pliable piece of paper with the attempted nonchalance that's also paper-thin. I'd also bet a lot of money that if he was allowed to cry every time he wanted to (and needed to), the game's runtime would jump by at least five more hours.
And I think it's beautiful <3
The siblings of ever
Friends are not a distraction
I spent an ungodly number of hours in just a couple of days on this, but it is 🌈done🌈
posting more of my L's

“She's the last of my family. I have no one left now.”
"My terrible swimmer friend." - Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Expedition 56's journal is HORRIFYING on a repeat playthrough
The author spends most of her time railing against Painted Renoir and his family for the death of her girlfriend, a valid point given that he's probably the most unambiguously evil character in the setting(not totally black-and-white, but callous and cruel to a needless degree), only for it to end with the author having captured and planning to torture...Painted Alicia. One of exactly two people in the whole canvas who had it worse than Verso(depending on if you count Painted Clea). And it gets even worse, because the journal author specifically says she's going to torture Painted Alicia because she won't talk. She clearly thinks she's staying silent to protect Renoir or out of spite, but we, who're reading this after learning all the twists, know that she'll be torturing her indefinitely until she's killed by either a Nevron or Renoir because this version of Alicia lacks whatever hope the other one has to heal. The expeditioner who's lost everything, who ends the journal by saying she doesn't care iif she dies so long as she can get revenge for her girlfriend/wife, decided to dedicate the final part of her life to brutalizing another victim of the Paintress. Fuck, man.
