Voice exercises in Duolingo are so frustrating. I don't disagree with their presence, and I like that you can skip them (good QOL and disability friendliness). But if the machine doesn't like how you're saying "tè", there's zero specific or actionable feedback. You don't know why the algorithm says no. But you'll blow through hearts trying to figure it out.
I respect the difficulty to implement a feature like this in a high-quality way - that's a genuinely challenging technical problem, because of the current landscape of off-the-shelf voice recognition tech, and what it can and can't do. But this is also the kind of feature that can be infuriating if half-assed, and that's only magnified by the app's incentive structures. If I miss out on a perfect score bonus, I'd like it to be my fault, and I'd like to know how to fix it, and learning is harder when those invariants are only... stochastically upheld.

It occurs to me tonight that we really do fall in love with other people before we know ourselves. I don't think that's a complaint of mine, nor really something that deserves to be complained about. There's beauty in it. You just have to watch your heart, too, and I don't think it's really that different for anyone else.

It would be really nice to be drunk right now, and I do mean properly smashed, like "feelings can't catch up to me" wasted. But one of the best decisions I've made tonight is not going to a bar, where I could make more bad decisions. That was sooo the right call.
That said, it's monumentally uncomfortable to be sober right now and confront my bruised ego and self doubt. And I'd overpay by an embarrassing margin to have some booze in my room to consume in peaceful and responsible solitude.
