June Event with Jennifer O'Brien
What is craft? Is it the Mona Lisa, Martha Stewart gone bad or a treacherous muse who refuses to show up? At June’s CreativeMornings Palm Beach event, within the walls of the Boca Raton Museum of Art, craft was as simple as making (something). Something to be enjoyed, experienced, celebrated and shared.
And share we did. With the support of Craft Haus, Synthesis, Nebular Agency, Jeff Perlman, Human Capital Group and various makers, we indulged in crafts big and small: small batch Subculture Coffee, Bean Scene Productions, Pretzels Pretzels and the collective om of a meditation led by Brandyce Stephenson. It was the perfect way to wind down the week.
Jennifer O'Brien, Executive Director at Resource Depot, took the stage to define and democratize craft. In her inspiring, humorous talk, Jennifer assured us that we too can craft. Craft is as easy as crying in the car (parenting) or turning waste into wonder. Just beware of the creative process (particularly Step 3: This sucks, and Step 4: I suck). And when you’re struggling, remember: forget the end user. Craft for yourself, and be free.
Join us on Friday, July 20 at the Old School Square (Crest Theater) for another awesome breakfast and talk with Sean Scott, co-founder of Subculture Coffee. LEARN MORE
