so many queer shows and movies feature incredibly toxic relationships and they’re considered to be ‘classics’ or ‘must-sees’ and i’m just honestly so tired?? that this is the representation so many of us cling to?? it’s not fair. and don’t get me wrong, i’m not saying at all that queer relationships must be perfect or ~uwu soft~ or whatever because that’s just not realistic but i am saying that it’s gotten to the point where we need to be more critical about the type of queer representation we receive or we’ll keep getting the exact same type of representation because why should hollywood actually put effort into it if we’re willing to settle? so don't settle. stop being so desperate for representation and validation that you accept less than you deserve. get higher standards. demand better.
