graphic body parts talk in part of this (see: man not taking care of his diabetes and suffering gross things).
So...CM is back in my life. He wasn't out of it totally but he pulled back. We've hung out a couple times in the last couple of years....but yeah, not like before.
He's still gone over the cliffs of conspiracy but anyhow.
I went to trivia with Bev (and a few others) on Thursday--I get there early to get a table and get most of my meal eaten before trivia starts. I had just sat down, look over at the door and there was CM! I was surprised cus he doesn't like the energy in the pub. He'd seen me drive by and figured out I was going to trivia (it was raining), so came in to see me. I drove him home after trivia was over--he wasn't enjoying it, so I'd offered to take him home after the song round and then come back but he stayed.
We chatted while I ate--he brought up to date on his brother, Dave--he lives in Dave's basement, rent free. Anyhow, Dave is a diabetic who wasn't taking care of himself (drinking alcohol, sugary pop not taking meds). It got to the point where his foot was literally rotting of his body (apparently the smell was horrible *gag*).
Yep, bits of dead flesh on the floor bad and the house is horribly, hoarder level messy.. *blech* During this time the shower/toilet in the upstairs bathroom didn't work and he couldn't make it downstairs to the other one, so he was shitting/pissing in buckets which CM then had to empty. He was too lazy to call the plumber.
Apparently he wouldn't go to the doctor until CM told he'd watched one brother die (their older brother died of cancer a few years before I met CM), he didn't want to watch his other one die--CM was at the point of tears before Dave would do anything. (When Dave's sort of girlfriend/common law wife who wasn't living with him but has now quit her job to move back in...yeah, she's got issues, Dave treats her like shit--anyhow when CM told her, she had the audacity to blame HIM b/c CM was stubborn, etc. Which, no THAT was DAVE....).
While Dave was gone, CM got a plumber in, he found a cleaner that would clean for 25$ hour (CM had done the bare minimum but he's 64 and it was hard on his body). Dave won't pay $100/week to get his house cleaned up.
Dave now has prosthetic but is legally blind and half deaf--he also has no insurance/registration on his car--but he still expected CM (who let his license lapse but is going to get it renewed) to drive him.
Back in mid june, CM was having bad chest/arm pain and went out to ask Dave to call him an ambulance--no Dave wouldn't do it cus it would cost money (which HE wouldn't've had to pay) Dave's woman drove CM to the hospital--he had bleeding aorta, blockage in his heart and his leg and he was in the hospital for 10 days.
So now he's got a few appointments, Dave's still to cheap to get his car in order for CM to drive it. That man is so tight he squeaks. Like does he think he's gonna take it with him????
Anyhow, I told CM I can drive him to appointments this summer (he's got 2 so far in August) and if it's during the school year, we'll take a look and see if I can take a personal/sick day to drive him. He also wanted to get another phone (he'd let his last one lapse), get the rest of his teeth pulled (he'll qualify for national dental benefit program), get his license back. I told him I'd help him with all that. Today, while talking to him (on Dave's phone), I ordered a sim card and pay as you go phone via koodo for around $200, taxes in. I paid for it, he's got the cash on hand to pay me back and he will. Once it comes in, I'll go up and we'll get it set up and I'll probably take him up to get his driver's license renewed. Also gonna look at his CPP/OSA/supplement to make sure he's registered for it. Probably also enroll him in the dental plan, make sure he's set for senior pharmacare. And probably a few other things.
Wow, sorry for the word vomit, but oh, well. Oh, and I do realize that in his own way CM is using me--he knows I'll offer to help, I always do. But he's my friend and I won't let how he does things affect how I treat him. He's a good friend, in his own way. And I do know he appreciates my help cus he tells me so!
