Ever since Sojung had been returning from America, she had a mantra. And she clung to it like a priest. âDo refrain from parties.â Parties were bad. Parties meant sheâd end up being drunk and maybe high and maybe she would wake up beside someone she wouldnât know. And it was actually all fine and fun, while sheâd still been in America. This kind of escalations had been okay as long as she had been sure that her brother wouldnât notice anything. And that was, why she clung to her mantra ever since she stepped out of the airplane. Sojung couldnât bear the thought of her brotherâs disappointment about her horrible behavior, about the way sheâd represent him and their family in such a selfish way. Only considering her amusement instead of the reputation their name held.
But with every new invitation, she felt herself crumble inside. There werenât many excuses left, to deny her attendance. And truly, her friends got sick of her long-term excuse of being busy with exam preparations. Sojung felt her insides itch horribly. She wanted to tag along, wanted to get drunk, get high and wake up in a strangerâs bed. Sojung wanted to be part of that horrible mess again.
But she knew, she wouldnât be able to handle it all on her own. There was one person, she needed more than anyone else to accompany her to that party. Someone she hadnât seen in ages, but knew, would be to her rescue on request. And so she pulled out her phone and scrolled through the seemingly endless number of contacts until she reached the only number she knew by heart, just to type in a quick text, too afraid she could sound everything but excited upon calling her.
[text to himderes] âDo you still own that short black dress, and those gorgeous Louboutin heels with the chains? Cause Iâd know an occasion you could wear them to.â
