Fractus: Broken

*CRASH*

The sound of something breaking brought two young boys to a deathly silence, one now in pain, and both in shock.  One boy clutched his head while both stared at the vase they’d just broken, their rough housing having broken the investment of money in their chaos.

The redhead sprung into action first.  He grabbed the brunet’s wrist and ran– no, sprinted.  They fled before anyone could arrive on the scene, before anyone could catch them.  All the way to their safe place, the lavish treehouse in the backyard.

“Senor Benji, let me hold you in my strong Spanish arms.”

“Oh Clovis-kun it’s been so long~”

“No, mira, la cosa es que no puede poner la carne en el adobo antes de las papas,” Jeong said in an exaggerated whisper punctuated by snickers as Benji’s eyes strained to keep his eyes focused on the page in front of him.

“No entendido, pero supungo que el cerdo sera mas tierno si no cocinas del fuego,” Clovis said a little uncertainly as Jeong tried to contain what sounded like a small hissing earthquake of laughter as though what Clovis had just said was the funniest thing anyone had ever said. 

Benji closed his textbook with a snap, turning around in the library chair to look at Jeong and Clovis. 

“I know you’re talking about me,” Benji said, earning a look of confusion from Clovis and an innocent look from Jeong. 

“Wow, ego much?” Jeong snorted. “As a matter of fact I was just giving Clovis here some advice about how to make the leftovers I brought for lunch yesterday.”

“And that was just the most hilarious thing in the world was it?” Benji said. 

“Pork is funny sometimes,” Jeong said with a toothy grin that set Benji’s neck hairs standing on end. He thought of saying something and even opened his mouth to squeak something out before turning around, dropping his books in his bag and disappearing through the back door, muttering under his breath. 

“But...that’s exactly what we were talking about,” Clovis said.
