1- 1984 by George Orwell Classic me with the dystopia and the socialism. 1984 basically is set in England in the “future” (written before 1984 just to clarify) in a totalitarian society. It follows Winston in his life in the oppression and follows his path to rebellion kinda? Its not very forward literature wise (Julia is such a great character but when I first read it I hated her). I won’t go on a crusade telling you to read all the books on this list but honestly 1984 has been so influential on today's media and its just such a experience I would recommend so much. I was determined to read it octoberish time last year and its gotten me back in to reading with the help of audio books.

2- Ways To Live Forever by Sally Nicholls So I read this book in year 7 as part of our English lesson but it really effected me, its one of the books that has really stayed with me. I haven’t read it in years but I remember how much I cried at the end of the book in our English lesson. Its not the kind of book I would normally go for honestly but yeah. Its about this kid called Sam and he has cancer and stuff and he has essentially a bucket list of shit he wants to do before he dies and he has this older irresponsible kid friend called Felix who is also sick and they are lads and yeah its really stuck with me idk. I can’t say much else with out spoiling it. 

3- I Am Legend by Richard Matheson Ok so I’m not one of those: READ THE BOOK!! EVERYONE CAN READ GOD but if you have seen the film version of this book you have experienced a completely different story. Another dystopia haha classic me, last man on earth kinda deal but imagine the last man was a useless hipster science nerd and not MAN HERO MMM BUFF MAN HERO GET THEM GUNS BOIIS that is I am Legend its really good. Vampire Zombies. 

4- Animal Farm by George Orwell Furry Animal Communism™ Not fun for all the family.

5- Lord Of The Flies by William Golding Another English text, this time from year 11. Basically a ton of privileged fuck boys get stuck on an island and they show how incompetent mankind is. They end up going all Alpha male on each other. I really want to read the one about the beauty models that get stuck in the same situation because apparently its completely different. I will never forget you Mulberry Birthmark kid god bless. Kinda Dystopian™

6- War Of The Worlds by H G Wells The film is garbage. Just putting it out there. But I love a terrible disaster film. The book was written in 1895 and was one of the first science fiction novels out there, its got a really interesting narrative and is one of the only first person books I have been able to get along with. Its told by this reporter guy who recounts everything kinda like a news article but not? I really enjoyed it god bless you Artillery Man never forget. (This book is the worst for female characters though but its 19th century so :/)

7- Jane Eyre -  Charlotte Brontë Putting this on the list because FUCK JANE EYRE. I hate this book so much and it STICKS WITH ME as a reminder of how feminist™ literature™ should not be done. I wouldn't be so mad if people didn't go on about how feminist™ it is. Its not. Its weak and I hate it. I hate Jane Eyre so much fucking pussy. There was better female characters in War of the Worlds ffs. 

8- Harry Potter and The Goblet Of Fire - J K Rowling  I LOVE HARRY POTTER so how could it not be on my list. I faked reading this book in year 4 because it was big and I wanted to look smart, though after actually reading it its probably my favourite Harry Potter book. 

9- Harry Potter and The Prisoner Of Azkaban  I LOVE REMUS LUPIN. I LOVE SIRIUS BLACK. THEY ARE MY WIZARD CHILDREN DON’T TOUCH ME DON’T TALK TO ME THEY DESERVED BETTER FROM THIS WORLD THEY ARE BOTH IN THIS BOOK LET ME BE. 

10- Bioshock: Rapture by John Shirley This was the last book I read willingly for fun before I discovered audio books and didn't have to struggle reading the same paragraph over and over again with out taking shit all in. It gave me lots of Bioshock lore I needed to fill the holes in my heart. I’m still not over Bioshock.
