I think I'm in a can't-do-anything-right phase at the moment...
I thought I finally had this cloud design nailed.
It's not 100% exact as I'd like but it looked good enough (better than my earlier attempt at a different way of making this cloud) - until i sewed it up.
SIGH.
Small achievement: I actually managed to mirror the back piece to match the puffs of the front piece so i have both right-sides facing out.
Other then that.. it's not looking too good.
The stitches being double crochets are too big/loose hence the safety eyes don't work so well. I decided to try a sheet of felt and that seemed to do the trick. Snipped off the pointy backs of the eyes too.
I tried 4 times with this pattern.
First: followed a free pattern (top left)
Second: modified 1 puff (top right)
Third: modifid almost all the puffs (below), and I thought it looked pretty good, so I finalised my written pattern and (fourth) tested another piece to confirm.
