Indie Pop Punk Band Livia and the Rosebuds have released a brand new single, ¨Close to Perfect.¨ This is the first single to be taken from their upcoming three track EP, ¨Butter.¨

It is a punchy and seductive song, with rhythmic guitar riffs and lyrics that really stand out. Livia´s vocals are powerful and her lyrics truly paint a picture with every word. She sings, ¨why didn´t it fix me guess I´ll have a sixth drink. I should really rethink what I know as risky.¨

¨Close to Perfect¨ is a song, then, about addiction and the pain that it causes. Although she is open about having an addiction, she writes about how it affects her ability to have an emotional connection with someone who truly ¨gets¨ her. 

She says: 

“I wrote close to perfect while I was out in rehab in California. This song means a lot to me because in the lyrics I tried to embrace all of the things that were selfish about myself. It was meant to be kind of satirical towards myself because I wanted to overcome all of my selfish thoughts and move past them.”

While Livia´s songwriting does not stick to one specific genre, there is a definite sense of an own blend of alternative pop and indie rock which has been often described as ¨Barbie Rock,¨ something that Livia embraces. Some comparisons have been made with Miley Cyrus and Paramore. 

This unique blending of genres has really been down to all of the years spent growing up in a musical household, and later her immersion in her native Memphis music scene. Currently, Livia writes with guitarist and bassist Landon Moore and she performs live with her band Livia & The Rosebuds, which consists of Anna Taylor on keyboards, Max Dixon on bass, Bry Hart on drums, Joe Espinal lead guitar and Auden Brummer on the guitar. 

¨Close to Perfect¨ is a perfect lead into Livia & The Rosebud´s ¨Butter´ EP to tackle the issue of addiction among young people in America today.
