BIO

Grew up on the edge of an affluent neighborhood, but was looked down upon by those who lived there. Learned the value of hard work while watching the people who had the life she wanted day after day.

Accidentally started a fire after gaining her powers and burned the family home to the ground, killing her parents. Her little sister was whisked away by CPS and she hasn't been able to find her since.

While she wasn't prosecuted for the accident, the government used guilt associated with it against her and the location of her sister to have her defend the humans in the war. It finally sunk in one day that they were all a bunch of liars with broken promises. She quickly switched sides after listening to the speeches from Donovan Bradley, inspired and ready for the world to be calm once again.

While managing anger issues from the trauma she suffered before and during her gaining powers along with the war, she's a caring person deep down and will defend those that matter to her with her life.

With the war over, she found a refuge and home in The Steppes. No one to ask any questions, or ask about her and her life. Hopefully, no one asking her about the occasional area in The Wasteland that looks like a meteor struck and left nothing but glass behind...

HEADCANONS

She kept the special suit the military made for her when she worked for them, it won't burn off her body like normal clothing.

She almost never uses her powers which has caused a number of issues for her due to the power building up and also because of her anger. She hasn't told anyone that she sneaks off to The Wastelands in the middle of the night to let her powers explode, scared that she might be considered a danger to the city and told to leave the only place that's felt like home in years.

Living in The Outskirts in a converted shipping container, she likes not having that many neighbors but does enjoy the ones she has even if she doesn't talk to them much.

She learned how to bartend only after moving to The Steppes, the only job that didn't make her entirely hate the world and let her be amused most days with people watching.

ben is a superhuman with shapeshifting and animal communication

younger of the two devall brothers

their father left when they were young and their mother raised them on her own

when the war broke out, ben was the one interested in being on the frontlines and ended up dragging his older brother wesley into the fighting due to a promise made to their mother.

having always felt like he lived in his brother shadow, ben was eager to prove himself useful in the war, something he would later come to regret as he was required to do some very harsh things with his abilities.

his abilities were used to both back up fights and also for interrogation, which is what stuck with him the most

when the war ended, the brothers returned home to find their mother had passed in the interim. ben carries a heavy amount of guilt because of this, especially knowing that wes never wanted to leave and he believes his brother probably resents him for it.

often skulks around the desert in the form of a coyote and the town in the form of a mutt dog. especially in times of stress where inhabiting the mind of an animal is much simpler than dealing with his own thoughts.

wednesday is the owner of the gentleman’s club nocturne and the youngest of the grimm siblings

she runs the club like a tight ship - everything from the wine to the girls to the décor is  managed by her. nothing gets by without her approval first. she’s the boss and she makes sure no one forgets that

she married into wealth before the war, quick to leave her family behind. her sudden development of powers immediately shunned her from the glamourous life she was used to and had to come crawling back to the family she was given

she was quick to seize control over her powers to use for her own advantage, taking any possible means to survive with her brothers - and to later do more than just get by but flourish in the aftermath

wednesday’s efforts are all put into her pride and joy - nocturne. while infamous when it comes to overseeing matters, she wholeheartedly cares about her girls and is fiercely protective of them

she feels like she had a lot to prove, having two older brothers and will rarely get them to fight her battles

 jason is the eldest of the three grimm family siblings and cofounder of the steppes.

 he’s the most laid back of the siblings but that doesn’t mean anyone should test him. he has very little patience for incompetence and is quick to show it

 because of his powers, he prefers not to get dirty. jason can and will fight but messing with someone’s mind is more his specialty and tends to be more effective – at least for him.

 during the war, he interrogated human soldiers for intel and being inside their heads took a toll on him. the man has seen and done things that he wishes he never had to. maybe that’s why he convinced his family to come out this far – to escape the ruins of the war.

 the steppes is important to jason which is why he’ll send any threats to their graves

despite being the oldest, his powers were the last to develop and he was relieved that he wasn’t left out

there’s a rumor going around that he has his own shelter with stray animals that he cares for, his heart has always been more fond over them than people

he has his own eyes and ears around the town, always keeping him up to date

After their father left when they were young and their mother raised them on her own, he felt like he need to take care of his mother and younger brother

Wes was never interested in the war, but his brother was. he was torn from protecting his brother and staying with his mother. In the end it was his mom who made the choice for him. Asking him to take care of his younger brother. something he’s still doing to this day.

Coming home to find their mother had passed tore Wes apart. Only blaming himself, after all if he stayed home maybe she’d still be alive. He didn’t have time to be broken, he needed to keep moving forward for Ben and himself.  

Wes took a job at nocturne, He felt his strength was put to better use there. Throwing the scum out rather and protecting the girls there than when he used it in the war.

Wes just wants the best for his brother, the last family he has left. Sometimes that leads to wes being overbearing.

While emerald is a good fighter, and can back up her words with her hands after the war she's feels she's more suited for a more relaxed life.That being said, though... her and her ex where dealing with some shady things. So if you really need something that you can't get your hands on.. she knows a few people. (It'll cost you)

If you catch her out in the day time she's either baking/cooking for the skating rink, skating around town... maybe exchanging something with sly hand movements

Stranger or not, she calls everyone either: Sugar or Hon. it's up to you to decide if it's threatening or not though.

arya is a superhuman with armored wings (flight & protection)

BIO

before the change, Arya had an extremely average life. Middle-class upbringing with parents that tried their best and failed sometimes, a completed education with good grades that never excelled. In her 20’s she was all over the place; holding the same grocery store job while dropping into and out of community college courses and pursuing a different hobby every half-year. She wasn’t unhappy, per se, but it also wasn’t going in any clear direction.

Her powers broke through early, for better or for worse. After an excruciating 5 days, she found herself with huge leathery wings…and no job. After all, what’s 4 years of solid employment in the face of 5 unannounced sick days? She entered a camp back when they were still claiming to protect the new mutants, and the red flags weren’t quite showing so clearly yet. There, obviously, her view changed quickly. She tried to take care of others there as best as she could, but armed only with sympathy, there often wasn’t much she could actually do.

So, when Donovan emerged, she threw herself behind his cause full force. During the war she flourished. Years of customer service and rage at the camp-runners were channeled into fighting, and while she became slightly unhinged during that time, she also became more skilled with her new power. Her memory of that time is hazy at best, suppressed at most. But she’s chugging steadily onwards.

Now, she doesn’t like to think back to the war. After the fights in her state ended, she moved on, trying to help others win against their human oppressors.

With all said and done, Arya lives her best life (she tells herself). She has gained several scale-like tattoos and usually wears horns around, because if you’re gonna dress unhinged when if not after an apocalypse? Now, 5 years down the line, it’s slowly starting to be weird again. There also isn’t much fighting left to do, and rebuilding just isn’t one of her strong suits. While she convincingly maintains the bubbly exterior, when it’s all quiet and calm, the regrets creep in./li>

HEADCANONS

Arya still enjoys helping people and donates extra time and resources to the clinic. With 0 medical knowledge, she can’t really help out much, except when a patient needs moving, but she wants to take weight off the actual medics’ shoulders as much as she can.

She doesn’t like to think back to the war, and reacts somewhere in between “what an awful high school memory” and “oh god, I might be a war criminal”

She never researched the fate of her family, for fear that they didn’t develop powers and she played a part in their demise.
