So the springs for the gilbert alamo clock are installed and here it is all together. I ran it for a few minutees and it is fantastic. Onwards I need to tear into the case and fix that.

Just got it all cleaned up put it together for a test run even though I don't have the Springs yet I don't have the hammer down or any other chime Parts in yet didn't see a point in doing that yet the new Springs should be here Monday everything ran great looks like all the gears are messing properly pinions are good bushings are good
Ok so this is what I have been able to clean in 45 min or so. I think what has been cleaned up stands out from what i have not done yet. My A.D.D. is winning the battle with my O.C.D. I think it may be time to do something else for a while!
So here is the escape wheel from Al the Gilbert shelf clock I just got. Can you spot the trouble spot? Guess it got tweaked when the time side spring snapped before I got it.
A Gilbert “Alamo” shelf clock circa 1880’s. I just got her yesterday and she is in rough shape to say the least. The spring on the time side was broken but close to the winding Arbor so I redrilled it and got that rewound. The base has been crudly replaced at some point so I will fix that and will try to do so with the wood it came to me with. First however I must get it running.

I got this Sessions spin start (non-self starting) electric mini steeple clock for free when I bought a mechanical one very similar. I did not work but had the original works and Hammond synchronis motor. I determined the transformer had gone bad and after exhaustive research I was about to build my own replacement. On a whim, I took my daughter shopping this weekend and found quite by accident, the same motor and transformer that i needed. It had been cannibalize and was almost unrecognizable but I snatched it up for $8.00 and repaired what came in my free clock. I am happy to report that It now runs perfectly and has the appropriate “guts”. I have had a rough time finding these in the spin start configuration. If you have any input I am all ears.
