everything is falling apart. it feels like a cruel joke – being given a solid five minutes of joy & hope & peace only for it to be taken away when she least expects it. they were doing so good. edge of great is still getting traction as they speak & people can't seem to get enough. they were so close. but this is hardly just about the band. if this was only about the band, she'd find a better way to cope. they brought so much more than music into her life. it's a bond she can't imagine replicating for as long as she lives – especially the one she has with luke. there's a string tying her soul to theirs & she's scared to find out what will happen to her the moment they fade from her life. she's scared to go back to the dark place they found her in. & she doesn't trust herself enough not to fall back into isolation & anger, feelings she's far too familiar with. feelings that have no right to come back when she's been doing so well. a deep sigh flees her, full of frustration as his hand passes through hers. " there's nothing to figure out, luke... " the hopelessness wrapping around her words is enough to break her own heart. " you have to cross over. you can't spend eternity in that place & you won't get destroyed by those jolts, not if i have anything to say about it. " a beat. " i'd just... give anything for a fourth option. "
