There is only one man Hestia would ever be content to marry, which is why Hera had declared her unmarriageable, to protect her from the truth that so few of them know.

Atlas is her love. But until the sky can support it's own weight, there is nothing more than quick embraces and short kisses and her love does not die, as eternal as her flame, but there exists many things outside of love.

She's choosier with her gods, picking no one that will make too much of a fuss, but she's less discriminate with mortals and nymphs and those who would never dream to ask for her hand even if she were a goddess who was allowed to marry - which, by Hera's decree, she is not.

She enjoys her dalliances, but knows better than to tempt her fate with an unwise choice. Hera will defend her against Zeus, has, before, but they have more than enough trouble with their king without borrowing more.

But Apollo is very beautiful and warm and can tames the sun with his chariot, harnessing fire and passion and those things which she nurtures so dearly, and so when he's particularly flushed and jolly, wine drunk and sun swept, she places her hand on the back of his neck and leads him to her rooms.

She lives in the flames for several months as her stomach swells with Terpsichore before releasing her to her father's care.

Hestia's heart belongs to Atlas.

But she is more than just a heart.

Besides, the quicker everyone forgets she was mistress to a titan, the better.

"I worry about you," Hera says, during one of those long nights where she sits by her fire and lets Hestia pin up her hair and neither of them say anything about the bruise in the shape of Zeus's hands. It's not the violence that concerns Hestia, exactly - Hera leaves equal marks behind, after all - but the lack of care, which is not the same thing.

"I have my fire. I am well," she says, because she doesn't need a throne to know her power, has no need of grand temples. Every flame that warms is hers.

Hera shifts, a show of uncertainty that Hestia hasn't seen since the war. "Zeus worries about you. He wants to see you married."

Zeus fears her loyalty lies with Atlas and wishes to see her tethered to someone he can control.

"I am the goddess of marriage," Hera continues. "I could make a good match for you."

She knows what Hera is offering. A weak god, one that wouldn't even attempt to cow her. Or a god that doesn't cow before Zeus, which just leaves Hades.

But she does not want to be either the protector or protected.

"I do not wish to marry," she says.

Hera places her hand over hers, her amber eye sparking. "Then you shall not."

Hera declares her to be an unmarriageable goddess, as pure and bright as the fire she lives in, and to marry would be to sully the warmth of hearth and home.

Hera is the queen of the gods. What she speaks becomes truth.

Zeus goes large and dark in his rage. The fight they have shakes Olympus and causes the earth to split all along the mortal's home, which irritated Demeter to no end.

Hera doesn't budge.

Hestia remains unwed.

11. Weirdest thing you’ve ever written/thought about writing/etc.?

I have a half finished Dean/Ruby that was a prompt fill for “unplanned pregnancy” and that’s not even the weird part. I can take a kid fic prompt and make it work. The weird part is that what started as an angst fic somehow wound up becoming a humor fic and I’ve…never had a fic…do that before? I’m not a funny person. It was weird.

12. A fic you wish you had written better, and why?

Oh, I’d say a lot. Especially my old Dean/Ruby ones. Some of the really old ones are OOC and my writing has improved, so I’d love to tweak them. But I also like keeping them the way they are as a reminder of how far I’ve come.

Out of all of my fics, my greatest failures are:

she said she collects pieces of sky. It was a fic that I was so excited about and planned so carefully, but I quickly realized that I chose the wrong style of writing for it. The whole ‘time is linear, here’s a story told sideways’ seemed cool and unique when I first came up with it but it did not help me keep things straight. It really messed me up and I couldn’t keep the timeline straight in my head, so it fizzled out. I still think about that one a lot.

I Melt With You. I was so determined to write it, I had it all planned out, and then for whatever reason, it just…didn’t happen. I’m still really disappointed in myself for that one. I sit down and attempt to continue it at least once a year. In the end, it was just way too big of a project to take on. It was a rewrite of Supernatural and Supernatural has twelve seasons. I don’t have the discipline or the talent for that. I mean neither do the SPN writers and they’ve done it but still.

14. Your favorite side pairings to put in?

Diggle/Felicity!!!! Honestly, more people need to hop on that ship. I’m still convinced that in late season one/early season two, they were thinking about going for that ship.

ALSO, not necessarily side pairings, but when I’m writing Dean Winchester and Laurel Lance, I like to throw in casual lines about how bisexual they are and past relationships they’ve had. (*coughlaurel/nyssacough*)

And when writing Dean/Laurel, I tend to put in a lot of subtle implications that Tommy might have, at one point, been a part of their relationship. As in…their boyfriend. Because I just can’t help myself. :))))

15. Your guilty writing pleasure?

Kid fics. I don’t know if guilty is the right word because I don’t feel guilty writing them, but I’m aware that a lot of people don’t like kids and spend a lot of time bashing kid fics, so I always feel nervous about encountering those people when I post my fics.

Hurt/comfort that is mostly hurt. That’s definitely a guilty pleasure. I put characters through some really awful things.

20. 4 sentences from your work that you’re proud of

If you were to ask him about pain - the kind of pain that leaves you a wailing, pleading mess on the cold floor - he would tell you about this. April 6th, three days before her 31st birthday, at 11:59pm. The moment she left. You don’t know what true horror is until you know what that moment of screaming loss feels like. (from an unfinished D/L grief fic for anon.)
