I got a full highlight + olaplex repair and protect + haircut today. My best paying client so far! They had natural gray hair dyed ginger and wanted thick ribbons of bright silver.
I did 25 foils of thick squiggly slices, horizontal placement because we were NOT going for y2k stripes. I used flashlift with 20vol and olaplex, which is a little aggressive but I wanted to ensure the red pigment lifted to its full potential. It lifted to light yellow with still good integrity.
I toned first with equal parts 09p + 010t for the full 20min, and then after rinsing it out did an olaplex no2 mask for a good 10min. I was debating about the order, but I felt that the hair would grab onto the color deposit better if I put the toner on directly after shampooing out the lightener. (Though now Iâm worried I mischarged the client with âolaplex repair and protectâ and should have just put it under the cheaper âolaplex added to colorâ.)
For the haircut, she just wanted a minimal trim to make the cut lines more blunt since she has thin hair that tends to get wispy at the ends.
When it was dry, it was an icy ashy tone that the client was happy about, but I think I could have been more hardcore with the silver formulation, like use 09b instead of p. I worry itâs going to look blonde after just a few washes, though I did suggest using a silver shampoo to help prolong it.
She must have been pleased enough with my service though because she wanted to rebook and she tipped me 50 bucks :).
