Life Hack:⠀ ⠀ ⠀ When I feel a strong emotion/feeling come on, AND I’m mentally present enough, I will try to identify it and search the definition.(even though I know it) ⠀ I then will try to identify what the situational opposite of that feeling/emotion and seek its definition as well. ⠀ ⠀ We often use our emotions to inform our logic. ⠀ We often use our logic to inform our emotions. ⠀ I don’t believe either to be inherently or intrinsically connected. I think because we exist at the fork of these divergent, parallel paths we try to reconcile and justify one with the other. ⠀ ⠀ So, I show myself the map via these two definitions. There is no “right or wrong” to be inferred. Accept that this is a choice. ⠀ Decisions need context. Your character, honest deliberation, and the whole of the situation will help you choose. Allow a moment for you to quickly “live” in the world of both choices. “Try on” each reality for a minute. How does it feel?⠀ Which world would you rather live in today?⠀ ⠀ I’ve found that most “negative” feelings are a refusal to accept the given reality. That has value too though, as sometimes we’re meant to be fed up. Sometimes sadness or anger is the spark-emotion that starts the fire of positive change. ⠀ And other times ...we just be moody. 🤷♀️ ⠀ ⠀ Today my dominant feeling was level 8/10 rage⠀ And I defined the situational opposite as patience. ⠀ I chose patience. (with the caveat that I still reserve my right to rage at a later date 😈)⠀ ⠀ I hope you make time for this practice. Takes 1-5 minutes. It’s a useful tool. ⠀ ⠀ Meeting, monitoring and naming our emotions is tantamount to maintaining viable mental health. ⠀ (Some of us use medication, meditation, and various forms of therapy as well) ⠀ ⠀ I know...it’s really very clever. ⠀ I’m smart. 🧠 ⠀ (And funny,good-looking, cool and somehow very single..) ⠀ ⠀ Have a good day ...or whatever kinda day you choose. #CleverHashtag (at Somewhere on the Earth) https://www.instagram.com/p/B31vGhqA9-Z/?igshid=2dp8ncu8y2eo
