In which Peter gave himself the identity of John Sheppard after everyone forgot him

He had been avoiding Rodney, more so than he did when the other was being annoying. He couldn't help it though, he knew it was stupid and that he hadn't actually forgotten him. He knew that they had fixed the issue and he was back to his normal self and remembered everything and the chance of him forgetting was gone, no trace of the parasite had been found in any of the scans they'd done since getting back.

But he was still avoiding him, because the lack of recognition he'd had just those few times near the end? They way he didn't seem to know him? Even if he knew it wasn't just him, it had brought it all back. The lack of recognition when he'd gone looking for his Pepper, Happy, Morgan, his friends? Everyone he'd known after he'd tried to get Stranges help making the world forget his identity as not only spiderman but Tony Starks son, only for it to all go horribly wrong.

That overwhelming fear that someone he cared about had almost forgotten him again, how did he even start to explain that? No one knew who he was, no one knew he'd been forgotten once. How would they? He'd never found anything to fix it, not that he'd looked very hard.

Portals were not something Danny had training with yet, sure he could sometimes open a tiny one to shove a blob ghost through or aim the thermos into to shove ghosts back into the zone. But sometimes you come face to face with your insane Grandfather who reeks of rotten ectoplasm and you panic. When he showed up in Atlantis he had nearly been shot, apparently, he had come through something called a Stargate. When it was on it looked a lot like his parent's portal but blue that much he knew, but they didn't understand how he had just phased through their shield.

When they saw he was 'just a kid' though he was almost 17 thank you very much, a dude named Sheppard stepped forward to talk to him. After that, they wanted to run tests on him, and he flat-out refused until they said it was just a basic medical checkup and mandatory to make sure he wouldn't get anyone sick. He tried just opening a portal to get back home, but he had no idea where he was or even if he was still in the same world. All the attempted portal had done was make him feel dizzy at the attempt, prompting him to change back from his ghost form to his human form. He'd given in when he realized how low his ecto stores were.

The shuttle they'd recovered was fascinating, an amalgamation of 21st century Earth technology and apparently alien innovations far beyond the Federation's current level. The working theory was that the central device, which seemed to be an addition to the primary shuttle design, involved temporal manipulation - there were currently dozens of officers inspecting every inch.

Had he been given the option, he would have been right there beside them, but the captain had asked that he escort the occupant of the shuttle to guest quarters. And so... here he was, not examining what just might be one of the most extraordinary and fascinating discoveries they'd made.

Sheppard clenches his jaw, biting back a spike of frustration. It’s not really directed at McKay, but it could be in a cathartic kind of way. He could say a lot right now, and he’d probably feel better for a second... and then worse, probably.

No, definitely. Definitely worse.

Daniel listened to Rodney, blank-faced, then he lifted his eyebrows in an implied ‘are you finished?’ before he responded.

John made his way into Rodney’s lab, ignoring the fact that the other seemed to be struggling at reading what was apparently suppose to be some kind of advanced math that he’d come up with when he still had ‘Ascension Brain’ as he was deciding to refer to it. “Rodney.” He stopped when he was standing on the other side of his desk waiting for the other to acknowledge that he was listening.

“We should probably talk about what you heard in my head.” For the most part? He was referring to what Rodney had learned about his past, but he also wanted to figure out if he’d felt the extent of his panic when he collapsed during that last mediation session. “You know, now that your not distracted with trying not to die.”

John was trying to give Rodney space to rest and recoop after everything he'd been through, bed rest is kind of a necessity after almost dying from an alien parasite. It had been about 36 hours at this point please return from the cave though, and well he managed to keep himself busy so far with things that he actually needed to do? He needed to talk to Rodney.
