Crazy that Cleon I’s first complaint to the sliced and diced Demerzel when he finds her is that he isn’t free because of the expectations of rule placed upon him. And then he fucking. Designs a galactic dynasty comprised entirely of absolute prisoners to his own ego and delusion. AND THE PRISONERS. ARE HIM!
And so naturally the Cleons all have the same problem Cleon I did. Chafing at the bit of pressure and responsibility and expectation, just wanting to live their own lives. Except that if they do anything drastic like Cleon I did, their equally imprisoned shadow empress / overseer will murder them for it. No one has lack of self awareness like Cleon I. No one does it like him
