Main thing Samina worries about is her brother, always, always, her brother. Despite being only two years older she attempts to be both a parent and a sibling; to much strife and limited success, but the two of them stick together and persevere against all odds, situations other Recorder children had been slaughtered in.

Samina embraces her Cuckoo Record, something she’d been leery of, when she joins the Marines under an alias of Cleo Clevine. Sacrifices must be made for the sake of her brother. They need to hide, need food, water and shelter. Marines want bodies, strength and dedication.

All the things Cleo can provide.

Her sky islander blood shows in a line of cutting sharp, short, white feathers sneaking up the side of her forearms, pointing upwards. To hide them she wears long sleeves and even some restrictive bandages.

Long-leg tribe ancestry shows up in her height and the awkward proportion of her legs and torso, but even so, she does not stick out much among other recruits. New world is place of wonders and weirdness, as long as her weirdness does not impair her, no one says a thing.

In her childhood, she aspired to be a Marine, but after the massacre that dream took on a spiteful flavor. It broke her faith in goodness of humanity and is the reason she never forgave her father for not coming to their aid.

Cleo Clevine is a model Marine, but also one that cannot stand suffering of others when she could help. This impedes her promotion. Aside from that she has a bad habit of listening to music when on the clock.
