Every bite of these delicious Clementine Macarons delivers a zesty taste explosion. A zesty twist of clementine makes them a light and sophisticated dessert.
Ingredients: 3 large egg whites. 1/4 cup granulated sugar. 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar. 1 cup almond flour. 1/2 teaspoon clementine zest. 1/4 teaspoon orange food coloring optional. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened. 1/4 cup clementine juice. 2 cups powdered sugar. Clementine segments for garnish optional.
Instructions: Turn the oven on to 300 degrees Fahrenheit 150 degrees Celsius and place parchment paper on a baking sheet. Beat the egg whites in a mixing bowl until foamy, then gradually add the granulated sugar and beat until stiff peaks form. Mix the almond flour and powdered sugar together and add them to the egg white mixture. Zest the clementines and, if using, add the orange food coloring. The mixture should be gently folded until it has a smooth, thick consistency. Spoon the batter into a piping bag fitted with a round tip, then pipe tiny rounds onto the baking sheet that has been ready. Let them sit for approximately half an hour or until a light crust forms. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the macarons are set and have risen, in a preheated oven. Leave them on the baking sheet to cool completely. Beat the softened butter until it becomes creamy in a different bowl. Once you have a smooth frosting, add the clementine juice and gradually stir in the powdered sugar. Arrange the cooled macaron shells according to size and place a generous amount of clementine frosting between them. Before serving, let the macarons sit in the refrigerator for at least an hour and sprinkle with clementine segments, if desired. Savor your homemade macarons with Clementine!
