I've been thinking about ClearSly for a bit and I suddenly realized something those two have in common. Clear is, being an android, very physically strong and a pretty good fighter. But he's also very good-natured and not inclined to violence. Unless Aoba is in danger. At one point he almost beats a man to death for trying to hurt Aoba, and probably would've killed him if Aoba hadn't told him to stop. Sly is different in that he absolutely LOVES violence. He loves giving it and he loves receiving it. In fact, the times in canon where he comes out are the times where Aoba is either weakened or in serious trouble. He doesn't go back until the danger passes. Because of his love of danger? Probably. But I think part of it is a desire to protect Aoba. In the true route you find out that Sly never hated Aoba, but only wanted his acceptance and acknowledgement. So I think Clear and Sly both have a protective instinct in them. Towards Aoba yes, but surely towards each other. Sly is a part of Aoba so Clear would want to protect him just as much as he'd want to protect Aoba. Meanwhile, Sly would want to protect Clear as well, if anything because Aoba needs him so badly. Maybe later he'd end up wanting to protect Clear out of love. And when that happens, anyone who tries to hurt either one of them is as good as dead.
