#clear drinks

For context, some more conservative Japanese workplaces don’t like their employees to have colored drinks at their desks, so beverage companies have been making clear coffees, teas, colas, etc. They don’t taste particularly great, on the whole, and they’re a symptom of a stifling and oppressive culture, and if you drink too much, they might turn your pee red. Good fun.

Since clear drinks are clearly the latest fad, I might try the clear Coca Cola when it decides to descend upon our shores.

I’m not sure whether to categorize this as a seltzer (炭酸 tansan) beverage, or part of the depressing clear drink trend resulting from oppressive Japanese workplaces (more on that here), buuut it doesn’t matter because it doesn’t taste that good. This tastes like maybe you burped after drinking seltzer and then suddenly remembered that you had an iced tea an hour ago. 

I wonder why this would be a thing... Oh wait. Incognito drinking. In the past, you could only pull this off with vodka, right? So there’s progress for you.
