Running water.
No release.
A lonely lighthouse continues its nightly ritual despite an empty horizon.
In As Below Part I, architecture reflects the emotional landscape of grief, memory, and endurance. The light never stops turning—even when no one remains to see it.
Psychological horror through environmental storytelling.

Some places don’t become haunted.
They become heavy.
The lighthouse was never resting on a small island. It extends far beneath the surface, carrying more weight than anyone standing above could ever imagine.
That’s how memory survives.
That’s how grief survives.
The visible world is only the smallest part of what keeps us standing.
As Below — Part 1

There is a lighthouse that appears only during the worst storms.
Its light isn’t for ships.
It’s for people.
The door is always open before you arrive.
Inside are staircases that rise beyond the height of the tower, windows that overlook impossible places, and rooms that remember lives you’ve almost forgotten.
The sea keeps crashing against the rocks below, but after the first floor you can’t hear it anymore.
People say no one has ever escaped.
The lighthouse doesn’t trap you.
It simply becomes the only place that still feels familiar.

The neighbors stopped asking why every light stayed on.
Eventually they accepted that the house had developed habits of its own.
Curtains shifted without wind.
Floorboards settled under invisible weight.
The porch bulb burned through every season.
No one remembered seeing anyone leave.
No one remembered seeing anyone arrive.
The house simply continued behaving as though someone was always expected home.
And after standing across the street for a while, you begin to understand something unsettling:
It isn’t waiting for a person.
It’s waiting for gravity itself to come back inside.

The Atrium
No one remembers moving into the building.
They only remember already living there.
The elevators stopped years ago, so everyone learned the staircases instead. At least, that’s what the residents used to say. The strange part is that no two people ever described the same route.
One person claimed Apartment 312 was three flights above the atrium.
Another insisted it was below the lobby.
Both could draw the floor plan from memory.
Both were certain the other was mistaken.
The skylight never changes. Morning and evening share the same pale light. Dust falls slowly enough that it almost seems suspended, as though the building itself has forgotten whether time is supposed to move.
The lights remain on.
The doors remain closed.
And every staircase quietly leads someone exactly where the building believes they belong.

They expected an abandoned shelter beneath the house.
Instead they found a kitchen.
The lights were already on.
The sink still held warm water.
The refrigerator hummed softly.
Everything suggested someone had been there only moments before.
The hallway beyond the dining room continued into another room.
Then another.
Then another.
Eventually no one could remember whether they had walked downward at all.
The kitchen remained exactly where it had always been.
The surface was what disappeared.
