First day || Rayne & Dacia
To say that her day had been hectic was an understatement.
New into Spiritvale, Dacia was very lucky to have wrangled the job that she had in such little time. It wasn’t like she had much in ways of qualifications and they needed the money now, not tomorrow and not in a week. The job would tide them over, enough to make ends meet.
The smell of beer clung to her, skin sticky where she’d managed to spill the beverage over herself, thankful that her uniform was black. No doubt, Dacia thought to herself, that she looked a state or maybe that was just the way she felt? Her eyes drifting over to the clock which loomed over threateningly, the hands seeming to stay in one place. She only had an hour or so left, and that was what was getting her through her first shift.
That and the alluring promise of cookie dough ice cream in the freezer.
With a practiced smile, she drifted over to the next waiting customer, avoiding the puddle that she needed to clear up after her little mishap. One thing which she enjoyed was that everyone was a stranger, there was no familiar faces and there was reminsicing over memories. Fresh start all around.
“What can I get you?” Dacia crooned, grasping one of the beer taps and leaning her weight against it.
Rayne pursed her lips, her eyes scanning over the menu in front of her. She had no fucking clue what to get. Laslow was typically the one that ordered the mortal food because Rayne didn’t often feel the need to partake in it. She didn’t need it and so what was the point in it?
She looked up at the woman, she was new to the establishment and Laslow had told her to be nice. Alright, fine. Nice. Whatever that was. “I’ve no idea,” she said honestly. “What’s your favorite on the menu?” She was on a break from work for a moment and had hoped, though it appeared to be in vein, that Laslow was working today. He had said something about stalking. Perhaps he was in the back, but if he was, she wasn’t going to distract him, she’d save that for when they were both off the clock.
“I can’t decide between the fish and chips or the burger, but I’m thinking I’ll have an amber ale for the time being.” Laslow would be so proud of her if he could see her. She was ordering proper food and being her approximation of nice. All in all, a win.
