#class performances

This week in elective music, Deborah, Ivy, Sarah and Tracie did their in class performances. Sarah played Nigun by Bloch which is a piece that I'm quite familiar with even though I have never learnt it, but have listened to many times in many competitions such as Parramatta Eisteddfod and McDonalds Challenge. It uses basically the whole range of the violin, from the bottom of the g string that produces a rich warm sound to the top of the e string which produces a piercing yet beautiful ringing sound. It's technically very difficult, consisting of double stops, harmonics and shifts. I think she understands the piece very well musically, not only technically. Also in elective music, we worked on our AMD compositions.

In orchestra this week we worked on the Saint Saens and the Crown Imperial as it was our last rehearsal before the very last run through before the Angel Place Young Virtuosi Concert on June 1.

In my lesson, my teacher helped me with my Paganini Caprice No 10 and Bach Sonata No 3 Adagio and Fuga- as I needed to record the Bach on Thursday.

On Tuesday, we had our last Schubert quintet rehearsal before the concert. We had a lot of time so we rehearsed various different sections, ran it, worked on intonation and being together, breathing etc. 

On Wednesday, we had our "incursion" with Richard Gill (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). Instead of arriving at school at 7:30 as usual for our weekly chamber orchestra rehearsal, we got there at 8:00 to warm up and rehearse some pieces we were performing at Angel Place. At around 8:30-9:00 (i think), Mr Gill walked into our welcoming music centre auditorium and worked with us on the 1st and 4th (last) movement of the Mozart Jupiter Symphony. We improved so much (it's actually so crazy) after he came :')

On Thursday, I had to go to the Conservatorium of Music to record some pieces for competitions. I recorded Adagio and Fuga from Bach Sonata 3 in C major, 1st movement of the Beethoven Sonata No 4 and Tzigane by Ravel. 

This week in elective music, we listened to class performances and then worked on our AMD compositions.

In orchestra this week, we rehearsed the Saint Saens Cello Concerto and worked on being together with Johanna in the rubato sections.

In my lesson this week, I played Paganini Caprice No 7 and Bach Adagio and Fuga from Sonata 3 for my teacher. I am learning Paganini Caprice No 10 now.

On tuesday morning, we rehearsed Moments of Falling by Greenbaum for the Angel Place concert and FINALLY got it together.
