The whole "middle-class" distinction in the UK always makes me angry. Like, I'm just sitting there minding my own business, and someone calls Benedict Cumberbatch middle class and I'm like BITCH PLEASE that boy is NOT MIDDLE class he is UPPER fucking HARROW UPPER CLASS piss right off.
And then I remember that their upper class is actual nobility or something idek, and I calm down a bit, but not much, because who looks at the different levels of income in the UK and then points to BC and says "yeah, he's in the middle of this spectrum" like, use a different word. Middle is not the word you are looking for.
What class are, you know, the middle class....the people who earn around the median or mean income? And then what do you call people who earn LESS than the median or mean income? Like, you've run out of words here. Is it Upper, Middle, Lower and "We owe you an apology"?
