Met with the leadership kids at their retreat tonight and this conversation happened:
Student 1: At Young Life camp, these guys did this dance to this song called "This is How We Do It." It goes like this. (She and Student 2 get up and do a dance)
Me, ashamed: That's the dance from the original video.
Student 2: THERE'S A VIDEO?
Me, in my head: How old do you think this song is?
Me, aloud: Yeah, the guy's name is Montell Jordan.
Student 3: Who's that?
Student 2: Some guy from the 80s.
Me, containing my annoyance: He was from the 90s. That song came out when I was in 6th grade and it was one of my favorite albums in middle school.
Student 2: I like you.
