What about BR Class 42 "Warship" D829 aka Magpie?
the 42s kinda reminds me of pugs
its a same that British Railways decided that diesel hydralics were non standard, although there other issues with the 42s. (their body shells didn't leave enough room for new equipment)

D821 Greyhound in July 1987 was found in a line of diesels in a siding outside of Grosmont on the North Yorkshire Moors railway. I remember seeing this locomotive being moved from Didcot to Reading Gas Works on the 9th February 1974 as a small lad on the platform at Cholsey. Many years later by a quirk of fate I found myself working with the driver who was driving the class 47 loco that was hauling the Warship on that day.
