Praying for our nation on Election Day
We are planning to open the sanctuary at Bethel Church on election day from 6am - 8pm, November 8th for anyone who wishes to come and enter into silent prayer on behalf of our nation. There will be a brief scripture reading at the top of each hour, but other than that, please feel free to come whenever you are able and pray for as long as you like.
It is our intention to have someone at the Church during the majority, if not all the time that it is possible to cast a ballot, but if you come and no one is around, please be patient and perhaps you could use the time to reach out to God from the privacy of your car.
If you are unable to make it to Church on election day please consider praying at home for the many needs of our nation.
As a suggested place to start, here are some of the topics you may want to consider praying for:
1. In the spirit of Daniel’s prayer found in Daniel 9, confess the sins of our nation. Ask for forgiveness for our nation’s efforts to remove any mention of God from our society. All of us have some responsibility in this as it has happened with lightening speed on our watch, so to speak. All of us could have done more to help prevent it.
2. Pray this nation would once again seek the face of God and understand that it is not our efforts, but God Almighty who is our only refuge in times of trouble.
3. Pray that those Christians who are eligible to vote, do so.
4. Pray for a safe and fair election.
5. Pray for the election of leaders who will rely on their Christian values when supporting legislation, social programs, and appointment of judges.
6. Pray asking that our elected officials would surround themselves with Godly advisors instead of special interest groups bent on promoting a secular social agenda detrimental to home, the individual, and the nation as a whole.
7. Pray for Divine protection for our Churches in the spiritual warfare raging across our nation.
8. Pray for revival within the Church.
9. Pray for the election of leaders who will be God’s instruments of blessings for our nation, and not those who represent judgement for our sins.
10. Pray for the salvation of all those who are in leadership positions across our nation.
In conclusion, consider asking God not just to listen to our prayers, but that He would actively use us as He brings about answers to the requests we make. Let us believe and never doubt that our God is in control of all things, able to accomplish all things, and wants the best for His children who trust and follow Him in love. Let us unite together as a family around the Cross of our Blessed Savior!
In the name above all names, Jesus Christ,
AMEN
