I usually don't give in to gimmicks.  I have been around long enough to have fallen victim to almost all of them.  And I thought for the longest time that was what the Clarisonic was.  Another gimmick.  But I finally gave in and tried one last week and was blown away by the results.  I used it in combination with Ole Henriksen's Truth Serum which I am crazy about and highly recommend.  But I was met with a world of confusion when trying to chose the "right" Clarisonic.  Sephora has some great sets, but Amazon has the lowest prices.

There is the Clarisonic Plus which has 4 speeds.  Find which one you are most comfortable with, but I always tend to think the highest is best, and most technicians agree.  Sephora has this Plus in an amazing set for the holidays.  The pro also has the body brush which is a little more abrasive.  Great for the backs of arms.

The Clarisonic Mia is what I wanted in the first place. It had the high speed I wanted and then a lower one which I personally had no use for.  It's more portable and had an amazing gift set which is now sold out.

The advantages to this system is regenerating cell turnover, increasing the effectiveness of your skincare products as they are able to absorb better, and guess what- it feels awesome.

There are also the drugstore versions, one I have heard good things about is the Olay Professional ProX.  You won't get the speed you need for ultimate results, but I would love to hear feedback from people who have used this product.
