The Manylove Quarter (update - 4th August)
âAre you criticising the police?â said the female cop, folding her arms as she leaned back in her chair and stared at Clare. âYouâre well within your rights to make a complaint, if it bothers you, what they did.â
Clare frowned. âReally?â
The male cop snorted with laughter. âOf course not. You waved goodbye to your rights as soon as you decided to get involved with another womanâs husband. Iâll put a note in your file that says youâre uncooperative.â He smirked. âWhere did you live before?â He bent his head, and checked the ring binder again. âOh, yes, a studio flat, for four adults⌠and a baby. Iâm sure that felt very crowded. Very small. Donât worry. Itâll seem like a mansion, compared to the accommodation youâll get in the Manylove Quarter. Weâll see to it that you get one of the more, uh⌠run-down flats. In one of the worse areas.â He grinned at Clare, showing her all his stained teeth. âThank you very much for your âcooperation,â Mrs Stratton. Youâll be going back to your cell for a little while. Not quite sure how long. Interview terminated at⌠seven thirty-eight a.m.â
My total wordcountâs up to 5,100 - Iâm a day behind, but tomorrow, Iâm very excited to write more. Iâll have more character to work with from the next couple of scenes, and wonât have to tell so much of the story in the pluperfect! Today, Iâve written about 1,550 words -Â a sizeable chunk - but I didnât really do much yesterday. Again, Iâve been busy with housekeeping and querying. On the bright side, Iâve submitted an extra query this week, so now I donât have to spend so much time, drafting and redrafting pitches. I can focus on this project instead!
