How cruel of him, perhaps, to make this man talk about what only went down a little over twenty-four hours ago. How cruel of him, to force out those words of explanation that had been held back and tongue-tied, even that, that host of his had a usual way of speaking and exclaiming even the worst of thoughts and arrogant explanations - now to be quite so calm and reluctant. Humbled, as a word as it finally seeps out when just the urging of the Reaper had become the littlest bit more strict and throughout, and quite so hard to ignore. He thinks he owes him an apology---
---how less he could truly care about that. “You are alive, that is what should matter.” Said with nothing but a breath exhaled that sounded quite so close to an exasperated sigh. He’s standing, leant at the window’s shining grandeur, back turning to the moon hanging over them, arms crossed before his chest expectantly [ expecting since hours with a break now initiated ]. It’s fair to say the investigator is all but pleased. With eyes just as piercing as the voice had been sharp - and the drawl about humanity that followed words, the unexplainable, disagreeable notion, he all but scoffs at in the faintest of ways.
“Are you the kind to try and find your excuses in what you are? Instead of seeing that the mistake lies on your person alone?”
Harsh, but those that know him would be aware, Arima had never really played much with the kindness of words where it was undeserved and would rarely matter. Lilium had overstepped his own capacities, had obviously dismissed and ignored orders the Reaper had given to ensure a safety that was all but nought - and a mission part that was surely failed. It’s his right to be enraged, to be angered - and yet he was none of it at all. “You thought yourself above the reach of those creatures I spend my life to eradicate. I do suppose, finding yourself humbled should begin with the understanding that your life matters not more to them than any else's does. It’s a mere fact that I am here and you are in my jurisdiction, that this all was avoided.” Like chiding a child - no matter that this man was actually older than him.
