So we had a huge get together for the trans people at my workplace last weekend on the land I take care of and live on. Some of us even met up first thing in the morning to go clamming for the event!
We also had the following on the menu (all scratch made)
-Shredded Pork Enchiladas
-Poblano Pepper Enchiladas
-Marinated and Grilled Pork Ribs
-Grilled Adobo Chicken
-Homemade Fresh Flour Tortillas
-Clam Bake with what we gather + corn, peppers, onions, clam stock, homemade chili paste, chorizo, tomatoes, avacado and lime
-Pico De Gallo
-Grilled Corn
Also I built a new picnic bench for the event!
All in all it was a wonderful event and I had a wonderful time hosting everyone. And everyone seemed to have a wonderful time ๐
genuinely disappointed in how few people are interested in or get excited about clamming or fishing.

we could go dig up meat rocks together
and then while they sit in a bucket of salt water and let the sand siphon out we can go fishing
and while we are fishing we can talk or listen to music or a podcast
and it won't matter if we catch any fish or not cuz we got the clams
and we can get a giant bread loaf fresh baked from safeway or something
and dig out the middle to make a bread boat for fresh made clam chowder with all the clams we just got with our own hands

Yesterday's haul from the oregon coast! Mostly butter clams with a few cockles, one littleneck and a couple softshells. Some will be eaten, some will be bait!
Clamming takes a good bit of physical exertion but is pretty easy from a skill investment standpoint. Plus, Oregon has disability accomodations for disabled clammers that allow them to have someone else dig their clams for them!
