“Hey, Max,” she said in a choked voice. It faded away. She had nothing else to say. She just wanted his company.

A shadow fell over it, and she groaned. His company, not her other brothers’.

But there they were.

“Izzy?” Alec asked cautiously. “You alright?”

She didn’t answer, just sniffed. She probably looked terrible.

“How did you know I’d be here?”

“Where else would you go?” Jace queried, sounding bewildered. “We all go to Max when we need to think or talk about something.”
