Charley walks by the restoration progress of Grate Field that is part of a larger park perimeter restoration project. The grass in this field had gradually been worn down by heavy use, neglect and inadequate maintenance compared to other parts of the park to the point where there was little grass left and mostly dirt and was commonly referred to as the “dust bowl.” Current restoration has replaced the grass and fenced off the area for the  winter as the area recovers. New benches have been installed along the adjacent walkway as well as other improvements. Central Park, Manhattan, NYC
